My version of Daguerre’s ‘Ruins of Holyrood Chapel’

This charcoal drawing is based on one of my favourite paintings in the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool by French artist Louis Daguerre called ‘Ruins of Holyrood Chapel’. I love the darkness and drama of the scene with touches of highlights coming through. I love ruins that seem to tell a story like parts of a window frame, who has looked out of if or into it? I have never visited these actual ruins but I would love to one day.
